I was already almost a senior citizen when I decided in 2005 to try to overcome a lifelong fear of public speaking. Never too late and all that stuff, right? (Surveys show that the biggest fear of most people is public speaking, and second is...death.)

The Professional Actors Studio in Buckhead had a great reputation and so I audited a class for free, liked it and joined. I thereafter studied for lengthy periods with every teacher in the school. Most are sought after local actors with decades of experience in theatre, film, TV, and Commercials. Some of them, as well as many of their students, have gone on to acting careers in LA and NY. Other students became solid acting instructors in their own right.

The owner himself, Nick Conti, is a veteran of over two decades of teaching acting, beginning in Los Angeles in the 1990s. Before that, he was a regular on a daytime soap, has done many supporting roles in movies and TV, and voice overs.

I now have six, soon to be seven, credits on the Internet Movie DataBase (IMDB), and have been auditioning regularly for films, TV series, commercials and other entertainment media. Not bad for an old guy who just wanted to stop quivering in front of an audience.

Got my Oscar speech ready, too.

Nick Conti's Professional Actor's Studio is the place to be to become a successful actor or actress. The classes are very helpful, fun, and exciting. On the business side of acting, you'll learn what works and what doesn't work. My instructor, Alex, is awesome! He will teach you how to break down a script step-by-step and bring a character to life. I recommend this studio to anybody who wants to get ahead in the competitive world of acting.

Professional Actor's Studio is the best, not only in terms of expertise and professionalism of its instructors, but in their passion for acting and their caring and personal attention to helping each student achieve their personal best.

I thoroughly enjoy the classes; there is great camaraderie and much laughter, yet serious discussions about the business side of acting, as well as techniques and methods to improve our acting skills. Atlanta is truly blessed to have such an outstanding team of instructors to nurture and help grow the talent of budding and seasoned actors.

Professional Actor's Studio is the best in the city! The instructors are all extremely knowledgeable, patient and sensitive to each student. Every student, all ages and at different stages of their career gets specific, honest critiques with the goal of moving their career forward. I have taken workshops at other studios and by far, this one is the absolute BEST! It seems that all of the instructors are equally skilled and sincerely care about each student and their issues. It amazes me how Nick remembers the tiniest detail of each performance of each student. Going to Nick's class is truly the highlight of my week. Would I recommend this acting school to a friend? ABSOLUTELY!

The Professional Actor's Studio has been around a long time in Atlanta. There are adult classes for beginners, intermediate and advanced and a teen workshop and an improv class. You can audit a class to see if it's for you. Classes run $99/month which is competitive compared to anywhere else in the city. You work EVERY class. Not all studios are like that. You are taught by industry veterans. Not all studios are like that.

Nick Conti is the owner and a 30 year veteran of the industry. He's a passionate, fiery, emotional guy, and can come off a little brash to an auditor or a new student, but what it really is, is a display of heart, caring, and passion for his students. No one could ever question Nick's caring and heart for his students.

I started with Nick in 2000, in the beginner class, and was there until 2003 in the advanced class before moving to Los Angeles. I have returned to Atlanta and for full disclosure purposes, teach beginning actors at the studio and proud of it. I hope I bring the same level of passion and commitment to my classes that Nick and all of the other teachers bring to theirs.

I also find the studio to be a professional environment, with a focus on making you a better actor, but more importantly, a performer who auditions better, and understands the nuances of the ever changing business, whether that's doing on-camera auditions, understanding the intricacy of a cold reading audition, or working on prepared scene work.

Try it for yourself. You'll find passionate staff, engaged students, and industry accolades from the last 15 years. There are several different days/nights available, from several different teachers, so don't be afraid to ask about the teachers and their class schedule. By taking a leap and signing up for class, you just might awaken that passion and that talent.

This is by far the best acting school in Atlanta. The instructors have taught me every I need to know in order to succeed as an actor and what I have learnt is extremely valuable to my future. Great job guys!
