WHAT A HORRIBLE WAY TO END THE YEAR :-( Today, at about 11:00 AM, I visited Dr. Singh's office at Piedmont Colorectal Associates after trying (unsuccessfully) for over a month to get them to stop sending me what they said was an "increasingly late" bill, a bill which I had already paid on time and in full. I called PCA directly three times to get them to stop, and I called the billing company directly twice; it was all in vain, they did not update my account to reflect that my bill, as with all my bills, was paid on time and in full. So, today I finally decided to take some time off of my work and went down to PCA in person, because yesterday I received a threat from a collection agency saying that if I did not pay my bill (which I HAD already paid over a MONTH earlier) that they would start legal proceedings against me to get the money back. But when I got to Piedmont Colorectal Associates today to discuss this matter to get them to tell their billing that I had already paid, the woman at the front desk, Anjelica Alston, just stared back at me unblinking, and refused to call the people who handle their billing, even after I showed her all of my evidence (bill paid receipt from them there at PCA as well as a bank statement from my bank saying that the funds were taken out.) Well, after she refused to help me, saying, "I will call them on my own time, sir," I decided to cancel my upcoming April 17, 2014 appointment with Dr. Singh, who have nothing but respect for, because he's the best out there and knows his stuff. However, I refuse to go here any longer because, after I asked to cancel my appointment, she refused to that as well, saying, "I have your name and date of birth, I will cancel your appointment on my own time, sir." And she just stared blankly back at me... At this, I asked her to place cancel it now so I can get a cancel confirmation... And do you know what she did? She started looking around the front desk for something. I said, "Thank you." She said, "I'm not looking for anything for you. I'm looking for the number for security." I could not believe it. I called my partner, Tim, and he told me to stay there and not to leave, to talk to the security people who come up. Well, when they came up (there were three of them, two white guys and one black guy,) the older of the two, one of the white guy's, asked me nicely to have a seat. I did. I then explained to him, while the other two went behind the front desk to get Anjelica Alston's "story", all of what happened as I told it to you here on this review. After the other two came back, the three of them asked me to step outside Piedmont Colorectal Associates' office, and I did. The other two explained that Anjelica Alston, the Practice Manager apparently, told them that I was being "irrational." Hmmm. Anyway, I told them that I didn't think that I was and I showed them my billing statements and the threatening letters from their billing department which was trying to get money that I had already given. The other two security guys were very nice. The black guy explained that as long as I had all of that proof that I had already paid, not to worry about it. And the other white guy went back inside PCA to get what the woman flat out refused to give me: a cancellation confirmation. And that's that. I left with my cancellation confirmation and on my way, I Googled the number for their billing department and called them directly and explained what had happened today and they were were very helpful this time: they immediately typed up an updated account status for me and a letter stating that I now had a zero balance (paid over a month ago,) and said they would mail that out right away, today. I won't be going back to Piedmont Colorectal Associates because of my experience with their billing, but mostly because of Angelica Alston, a practice manager whose first recourse was to call security on an established patient.
