After e-stalking a few yogis on Instagram one weekend, I decided I should work on being sexy flexy too. Highland Yoga has an amazing 10 days of unlimited classes for $10 for newbies, so that sealed the deal. If I hated it, I could at least be glad that I didn't waste a ton of money and go back to lurking on Instagram.

The staff was friendly when I entered the studio and told me not to worry about not getting all of the moves right at first. They assured me that despite the challenges, I would enjoy the class.

The warm room concerned me at first, but I appreciated it soon after we got started. I had no idea what was going on most of the time, but I just followed the folks in front of me and played along. Apparently, that worked since the instructor didn't believe me when I said it was my first time doing yoga. I appreciate the fact that she took me aside after class to show me the correct poses for a few moves. That made me feel like she actually cared. And she also said she wanted to see me back at the studio for more classes. As hard as it was, I'm actually looking forward to going back.

The studio itself was beautiful and clean. And there was plenty o' parking, which I was a bit worried about at first.

Have I found my new workout obsession? Not sure, but I have found something I'm interested in.

I frequent a lot of the yoga studios around the area and Highland Yoga is one of my favorites. It's a hot studio, but not crazy hot (like CorePower) - just good enough to get a good sweat during your practice. Their classes are the perfect balance of not too strenuous, not too "mellow." I also love their touch of the cold towel w/ lavender and peppermint during savasana...such an added benefit!

They have towels and mats you can use, which is great for those just getting started.

The studio is clean and the classes are challenging. Be prepared to sweat, stretch and get a great workout. Regular classes are better for students who are very familiar with yoga rather than beginners.
