Wow I've been going to Ross at Scissorhands for 30 yrs. My 2 sons have been going there for 30 and 19 yrs. My older son actually takes the train from Hoboken to go to Ross. We have never had a problem with Ross or his haircuts. I have recommended his shop to friends and relatives throughout the years. To his critics I say he talks because that's what barbers do to make you feel comfortable, if he's not doing what you want you're sitting right there in front of a mirror tell him, I'm sure he wasn't telling anyone what to tip but he does like to joke around so lighten up, and finally if you're 10 minutes late with 4 kids you're screwing up everyone's appointments after you, very inconsiderate. Also coffee makers are for adults to use not kids I'm sure he just didn't want your children to be burned or injured using it. I highly recommend Scissorhands for yourself and your kids. Sorry I forgot to mention Joan who also has a chair there is a great stylist for men, women and kids.

Ross is great. I live in the city and normally pay 5 times what they charge here. I've been getting my hair cut here when I'm down at the shore for the past 10 years and wouldn't consider going anywhere else.

I really enjoyed coming to this place. Even though I have only been here once to get my haircut I really enjoyed the experience. I got a good haircut for a good price and had a good conversation with a hard working man. This place is a 10/10

I have been going to Ross at Scissorhands since I was 10 years old, for the last 18 years. I have consistently received great hair cuts from him every single time and even going to college in Connecticut, I would purposely hold out on getting a hair cut while I was up there because Ross always did that good of a job. It was never worth trying another place miles and miles away because it was that much more convenient. Ross knows, and has known, exactly what I want and does the job right, always. Scissorhands is also very warm and friendly. Through the years I have seen people come in of all ages and every person always seems to have full on conversations with Ross like they are best friends, including myself. I have always left Scissorhands a very happy customer for almost 20 years.

Well, Scissorhands lost a customer last Friday.

Yes, the owner is thoroughly unpleasant; but you can tune out the yapping.

More importantly, before my first haircut, I told him exactly what I wanted, and what I didn't; he took notes; and he got it right the first two times. On Friday, after I reminded him of what I wanted, he did exactly what I asked him not to do.

A gentleman - a mensch - would say, "Sorry, come back in two weeks, and I'll shape it to grow the way you want." What the owner said was "Thirty [dollars]" - full (and pricey) freight for an ordinary beard-trim and a haircut that I hate.

The owner can tear up his notes - he won't be needing them.

Best haircut I've received in a while, I don't understand the negative reviews below but I've been going here now for over 4 years and I've never had a bad experience. I'd recommend Ross and his crew to anyone.

grumpy man

Bad haircut and he cut me. All he talked about was how I should give him a big tip. Well, "Start with anger management, and take some haircutting classes; You should be shut down!!

It says family but don't bring...

It says family but don't bring kids there. The owner man was extremely grumpy...yelled at the kids as they walked in the door for being 10 minutes late. 2 of our 4 kids were making coffee for their mother and aunt and he accused them of playing. The kuerig took a minute to start to brew. The kids were quiet, well behaved and when he came over we thought he was going to say something complimentary but he started a rant. We left and went to Shear Design where they accommodated us willingly and loved the boys. STAY AWAY...
