Johnston Elementary School, governed by the Appleton Area School District, serves students in kindergarten through grade six. The school administers the Healthy Kids Program, which is a nationally recognized initiative that provides opportunities for physical activity and better nutrition to students. Johnston Elementary School provides before- and after-school child care programs through the Appleton YMCA. It offers a variety of extracurricular activities, including art, drama, technology and library clubs. The school also coordinates the Battle of the Books competition for students in grades four through six.
