My husband and I both come from professional backgrounds specializing in working with children. Like most parents, when it comes to our own children we have high standards. Community Nursery School not only meets but exceeds those high standards we have set for our children's adademic, social, and emotional growth and development. CNS has set the bar for a warm and nurturing environment in which children learn through various modalities including exploration, interaction, and most importantly--play. The classroom is a positive environment where kids feel connected and special. Parents are welcomed into the classroom and are encouraged to be as involved as they like. Because of CNS and the caring and supportive staff there, our first child had a wonderful first school experience, which has set the tone for his lifelong learning. I would recommend this learning environment to anyone!

I have four young boys and have been to four different preschools in Appleton over the past 6 years. CNS is by far my favorite. I started my oldest at the Christian Co-op and that was a good fit that year, we switched to Neighborhood Preschool which was also good, and then the downtown YMCA which was OK. CNS is where my last "baby" (OK, he's four) is attending and I couldn't be happier with the teachers, the nuturing environment, the attention to detail, and the feeling that you know your children are in the best hands. When talking to other moms at other events over the years and you mention CNS, it's unbelievable how everyone responds. I have never gotten anything but positive experiences and stories, lifelong friendships that have forged, and a bit of nostalgia for this very special school.

Preschool Excellence

I couldn't have hoped for a better preschool experience for my 5 year old. Community Nursery School of Appleton has provided an excellent educational and social base for my daughter. The new teacher there is a former Kindergarten teacher, so she knows what preparation 4 and 5 year olds need. The curriculum is organized around a weekly theme that is communicated to the parents by a newsletter handed out the week prior. This has been a useful tool for creating conversation and additional activities that support what my child will be doing in class. The teacher also tailors individual attention to each child's ability levels, allowing those who are ready for reading and writing to progress while not alienating those who aren't. The warmth and excitement from both the staff and the students has convinced me that Community Nursery School is a loving, learning environment. I give it my highest recommendation.

mistake

I was so excited about this preschool. I really felt I was making the best choice for my child. However into the year come to find out my daughter was being hit- pushed, ect.

When she told the head teacher - who is no longer there- she was always told to stop tattling. Now these are 4-5 year olds. When it comes to any child being hit- pushed, ect a adult has to step in. She did not- all she ever told her was to stop tattling. If it were over petty things fine- that response would be appropriate.

Anyway-the learning was good- but give me a break- I entrusted my child in their care to be taken care of and not hurt.

Don't make the same mistake I did- to this day my daughter says that teacher was so mean. I understand every teacher will not like every child- but my daughter suffered!
