I went to Sisters Fall 2012 and I liked the braids I got done. The service wasn't A1 but I really didnt expect much dialogue since I have gotten my hair done by Africans in the past (language barrier). They were cordial and suggested a style for me to get since my original style wouldn't work with my very short hair. They were fast the braids came out looking pretty good. I even recommended them to a few friends.

Since I had no real complaints with my previous service from Sisters, I decided to schedule an appointment for braids for Wednesday morning. When I arrived every stylist had their chair full and no one was available to braid my hair. After a few moments of them just staring at me, someone finally asked if I had an appt. I told her yes and then they spoke amongst themselves in their language. After about 15 minutes, a stylist came over to me and said that the girl who booked my appt was sick and did not come in. Of course I was disappointed. I really planned on getting my hair braided that day. The lady said they could call someone in around noon (about 3 hrs later) to do my hair. I reluctantly said I would think about it because like them, MY time is very valuable too. I have things to do during the day and they just really threw me off track. Anywho, the lady asked me to leave my ph number and she would call me around 11 to see if I would still like my hair braided. Needless to say, unprofessionalism is their first, last, and middle name and she DID NOT call me back. I won't be calling them back either. Good day!

Mistreat kids

I took my 6 year old daughter up there for kinky twists and my daughter said the workers made fun of her because she was crying. She is very tender headed. She said they were calling her a cry baby. I called to confront the lady about it and she said it was one of her customers that was saying it. Why would you allow you customer taunt a child. Bad place for business when dealing with small kids. My daughter is use to going to the braid shops in Atlanta so she is familiar with the process of getting kinky twists.

Don't Waste Your Time

On my first visit to Sisters Hair Braiding, my daughter and I waited one hour and 15 minutes before some arrived to do our hair. Our appointment was scheduled at 8:00 am and the girls started on our hair around 9:30 am. My daughter had to be at work at 5:00 pm and I was praying we would be out on time. Although I wasn’t pleased with their customer service of arriving late and being so unfriendly and not talking or speaking to my daughter and I during our visit, overall they did a good job on our twist. I stated to myself they would not get my business again!

Upon the recommendation of a church member who had her hair done at Sisters Hair Braiding (and I must admit that looked AWESOME), somewhat reluctant, I decided to give them another try. Today, Saturday, September 19, 2009, I had a 6:00 am appointment. I got up at 5:00 am to shower, wash/dry my hair, drove 20 minutes to Sisters Hair Braiding. Arriving at 6:00 am, NO ONE THERE! I thought, no way, this is not happening again. I decided to give them 30 minutes. At 6:27 I took out a piece of paper, at 6:28 I took out my pen, at 6:29 I wrote a very professional, well-constructed complaint to Sisters Hair Braiding. At 6:30 a.m. I stuck the note in their door and left. How unprofessional and uncaring for a business not to appreciate their clients enough to show up for an appointment. My time is of the essence and once its gone I can never recapture it. When I made the appointment, I asked the lady if she needed my cell number in case THEY had to cancel for any reason and she immediately said “NO”. Well, its time for us to step up. There are sisters on TSU campus that can do a very good job on micros at a much cheaper price than this African Hair Braiding Salon. I would rather give my time and money to a young struggling black student than to give it to a bunch of uncaring people who have no sense of customer service. Sisters Hair Braiding is not worth rating!!! Sister Hair Braiding needs to get their act together, there are others out there doing a good job on micros and understand the importance of customer service. One girl I know will come to your home and do your hair. Enough is enough Sisters Hair Braiding…get it together or get out of the business.

I went to Sister Braiding when they first open she did a great job on my twist. I went back the second time the owner did it again a great job. I made a third appt last summer with her but she wasn't there so another lady started on my twist well she didn't do a good job. Please let me know if you know of any good braiders. I need my twist again for this summner.

BEWARE

Ive been having my hair braided for approx. 10 yrs plus. I was going to one African Braid shop and time after time i was getting a bad experience. Recently found Sister Braid shop, 1st time there the owner did my braids excellent job, but was there 10 hrs that couldve been 6 if she didnt stop to go pick up her daughter and then feed and play with her. Excuse me but I thought she was at work and not at home. 2nd time I made an appt for the owner to do my hair again, once i got there she ws doing someone elses braids so she has another young lady to braid my hair. As i was sitting there i noticed she kept stopping, only to realize she didnt even know how to braid. my braid were falling out faster then she was putting them in. I informed the owner she didnt know how to braid. I had to argue with the owner before she came to see what I was talking about. At that time the owner and another worker came to do my hair. they both were mad and did a terrible job on my braids. I went at 10am didnt leave until after 11pm. While there i experenced ppl coming in to have there hair braided and when done was given a different price then that was quoted. There are young ladies in that shop that DO NOT have license. They over book there appts and then call there friends to come in and braid. I highly encourage African American that can braid to open there own shops and do use some justice. We put our trust in the Africans thinking they are the best braiders just because. NOT TRUE. I will not go back to SISTER BRAIDS.

Owners/workers are not very friendly or professional.

Owners and workers are Africans and speak their language. They ignore you the entire time that you are there. The lady that braided my hair did a good job on the braids. They converse only with each other. When I walked into the salon, no one recognized or greeted me. I stood for about 4 minutes while all the workers looked at me but no one said anything. At that point, I turned to walk away, only then did one of the ladies ask if she could help me. So, if you want to be ignored but have nice braids this may be the place for you. I prefer to be appreciated when I'm paying someone to do a job. I have chosen another salon to get my hair braided.
