The University of Michigan Orthotics and Prosthetics Center is a part of the University of Michigan Health System and provides orthotic devices to support and control motion. Located in Ann Arbor, Mich., the center s team designs, configures and fabricates an orthosis according to the patient's medical records. The university s prosthetic department runs a research-based upper and lower limb prosthetic program. The center utilizes computer-aided design and manufacturing systems to develop orthotic and prosthetic devices. Its computer-aided systems feature carvers, digitizers and workstations that utilize a TracerCad software to modify 3-D shapes.
