This is an amazing place to study karate. My son has been going here for about a year now. Mr. Davenport teaches the traditional art while making it fun for the kids also. I recently started going myself after not doing karate for about 12yrs. He honored my rank which I worked long and hard for. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a dojo to study!

My four children and I have been with LDKS for over a year and have been extremely happy with our instruction. The instructors are very knowledgeable and patient with new students as well as the more experienced students. The instructors are also very respectful and interested in the students. LDKS promotes a family atmosphere as well as excellent instruction in karate.

LDKS has benefitted my children greatly. They have learned how to be respectful to others. Their karate classes have also taught them self -discipline and more importantly self-respect and confidence. The classes are affordable and in my opinion invaluable to the development of children into responsible and respectful people. I would highly recommend LDKS to anyone.

In response to the negative review about Mr. Davenport being out of shape I will just say this. I have never studied under Mr. Davenport, however, about two years ago I was studying under another instructor and we went to Mr. Davenport's Dojo to spar with his students. I have watched him spar and looks are deceiving. I was shocked that Mr. Davenport (who by appearance did not look to be a top notch athlete) completely and absolutely dismantled someone whom I know is a much younger, top notch, and in-shape black belt athlete. By the way zooloo1, nice respect! You know, the judging by the looks thing that you did in your review. Do you also judge people by their skin color? Secondly, you idiot, I am very familiar with Mr. Smith's dojo (you also said he was no good). I'm sure all those state trophys and national rankings mean nothing to you. No wonder your son was getting bullied and beat up (yellow page customers can see zooloo1's comments about Mark Smith Martial Arts). (She also doesn’t like the Anderson Police Athletic League) I imagine that you, Ms. Zooloo1, must be terrified that someone would try to instill any discipline in your darling little baby boy. How dare someone not turn your boy into Bruce Lee overnight. My guess is that you are spineless, and will have trouble with him. Has he ever heard the word NO? Just wondering. Good luck with that. By the way, no martial arts studio can turn someone into Bruce Lee in six months, one year, or even several years. However, several years of martial arts study can certainly help with self defense. By the way, Mr. Smith and Mr. Davenport are very well respected for their talents in the martial arts community.

I should have know that this place was a joke when I saw Larry Davenport. My mother always told me you get what you pay for and you pay to much for what you get here. Larry Davenport claims to be able to get you in shape and teach you self-defense yet he is way over weight and out of shape. What you see is what you get at this place what a joke.
