The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities is responsible for the management and maintenance of airports, highways and ports. The department operates a ports and harbors section that provides design, technical and administrative services for coastal and harbor projects to federal, state and local agencies throughout Alaska. The department maintains a measurement standards and commercial vehicle enforcement division that is responsible for the enforcement of vehicle regulations.
