My wife, young daughter and I took a quick 4 day trip to Anchorage. (2 of which were flight time) So we tried to schedule every minute as best we could. So as soon as we hit the ground in Anchorage, I called "Jo$h" with Horse Trekkin and set up an "appointment" for Saturday morning at 10am. He of course wanted a deposit...no biggy ($165). Then he said that he would call me later that evening and provide me with the location to meet him close to Palmer. (an hour and 15mins or so away from Anchorage). So, we kept our phones close, didn't here from him Friday night. At that point, I was becoming a bit leary and felt I was possibly getting scammed. My wife phoned him first thing Saturday morning around 7:30, (I was a bit too agitated) and left a message. We went and ate breakfast at The White Spot and by the time we got there and finished up it was already 9:15am...and guess who finally calls? This guy acted it wasn't a big deal that he didn't call us back or that it was almost 10am already! We had already made other plans at this point because the guy never called us the night before and had waited almost 2hrs to return our call that morning. BUT WAIT...it gets better. He tells my wife that he would return our deposit and attempts several times to get the "machine" to work. He couldn't get it to work at that time and says "...I'll call you back this afternoon and try again." NEVER HAPPENED!!! So we waited until we got back to Texas and my wife called him again. He said he was doing us a "favor" returning our deposit, because HE didn't break the appointment. I agree...but he didn't fulfill his verbal obligations of returning a PAYING customer's phone call!!! He took my card number and was supposed to have credited my card, but that was 4 days ago...so I will just let my credit union handle this one. STAY AWAY FROM THEM..THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS CRAP!

Finding Alaska right in Anchorage

The heavily wooded trails offer a great variety of challenges, the horses are well trained and friendly, the guides are inobtrusive and accomodating.

A great ride at any time of the year
