Founded in 1998, Aleut international Association addresses environmental and cultural issues. Located in Anchorage, Alaska, the organization handles various issues, such as transboundary contaminants transport, impacts of climate change and effects of commercial fisheries on the ecosystem of Bering Sea. The association pursues collaboration with government organizations, scientists and other groups to develop programs and policies. Its list of projects includes Bering Sea Sub-Network and U.S. Department of State Office of Ocean and Polar Affairs.
