I’m ready for another year of this landscaping service. I have been on their list for years for mainly their mowing services. I enjoy dealing with the employees because of their pristine job. I had to deal with a renovation of my lawn with broken tree limbs and torn up grass so I called them. It was simple; they got the job done in a thorough and orderly manor. They cleared the trees that they thought were unsafe and left with a thank you from me. Heck, even the old coach, and neighbor, Greg Mcdermott trusted Dan's enough to service his yard!

To make things very clear, I am a former employee of Dan's. I did NOT get terminated; I left for school after working during the summer. I have no hard feelings against the company, but I do believe customers should know what exactly this business is all about. To begin, Dan's does not care about their employees, or their customers. They are strictly concerned about making money, and making as much as they can. The management is terrible, and does not sincerely care about their customers satisfaction. Most of the equipment is outdated, and poorly maintained, resulting in less than satisfactory work for the customers. Most jobs the company approves, gets put on the back burner for at least a month, unless they have friends at the business. Most employees and/or supervisors at this business abuse controlled substances and alcohol. While the employee's personal lives may seem to not effect the customers, it in fact does, because many employees are under the influence of drugs or alcohol while working at customer's homes. While I was employed there, my supervisors had me do work at customer's homes that did not even need done. We had many customers come out and complain to us that we are doing things they did not want us to do. Again, the business strictly focuses on profit, rather than customer satisfaction. I personally don't believe in stealing money from those who use Dan's services. I believe a business should charge a fair price for their work, and only charge customers for what they are asked to do. Awakened at 7 in the morning by Dan's doing the neighbors' yard. Super loud mowers and weed trimmers. Go find a commercial place to do, or wait until at least 8 or 9.

They never bothered to ask me about my property boundaries, so they always skipped 1/3 of my lawn. (How does a lawn care service contract with people without even talking to them first?)



My father tried them for a while, but ended his contract because his back lawn sloped a bit and the guys would gun the mowers up the hill and leave divots in the lawn.

We called Dan's to mow my daughter's duplex in Ames. They came and mowed. They did a great job, but only on the front of the duplex. They did not mow the back at all. We called again to have them mow again and to make sure to mow the back as well. This time they did not even show up. Don't bother with them. There are much better companies.

Don't call them. We called Dan's Custom Landscapes to mow my daughter's duplex lawn. The first time they came and mowed but only mowed the front of the duplex, not the back. The second time they never even showed up. Don't bother!

Inconsistent service. States will make notes on account so further damages will not happen but the notes are never followed. They state that they have so much turn over that its hard to keep up with and make sure new employees read notes. They cut the lawns too short. For winter service they are reckless in drives and careless and show no respect for others property and then when advised of damages done will not accept responsibility for their actions. Have actually plowed through grass and then not reapired in the spring as promised. Have actually plowed over rose bushes before as well as run weed eaters in a newly planted flower bead.
