Uptown Cafe is a local restaurant that specializes in traditional American breakfast. I definitely recommend the grits and the potato soup, whenever they have it. I never liked grits in my life and many of my friends think that I am a bit peculiar, since I was born and raised in the south. For some reason I have just never liked it or maybe never had good grits. Uptown Cafe definitely changed my relationship with grits. First, their grits are made from white grits and were absolutely delicious. The grits were creamy and had a bit of a chew as well. The only suggestion is that they keep the butter on the side instead of putting a chunk of it on top. Who knows, maybe that’s the way that you are supposed to enjoy grits (with a chunk of melted butter) but that’s not my style. I like my grits plain and old fashioned. Uptown Cafe is a great spot if you are looking for some homey traditional american breakfast.
