I purchased a platinum series oreck XL in November 2009. The same machine sold for various prices depending on the warranty you wanted. I choose the Plantinum series with a 10 year warranty that included an annual tune up and inspection of the device. The 10 year warranty price was higher than the 5 year or 3 year warranty.

I returned the vaccum after one year for the annual tuneup which includes cleaning the motor, replacing the belt, cleaning the baseplate and housing and installing a new inner bag amount other checks.

I picked up by vacuum after receiving a phone call it was done. At home I noticed the inner bag was still 1/3 full as when I took it for the cleaning. In addition the housing and baseplate had hardened dusk caked on the inside and in the hose as it was when I returned it and pointed it out to the staff person.



When I called the store back the assistant manager told me to bring it back and she would perform the tuneup in front of me. I asked who was responsible for falsifying the repair and she only stated she would take care of it. After several minutes of my insisting to have the person's name when I spoke to the store owner's, the assistant manager told me I did not have to pay for it so it does not matter. This is wrong !!! I paid for the 10 years of maintainence in advance with a higher sale price.



I contacted the national oreck company and filed a complaint as it reflected on their well know name. The staff person stated a complaint would be filed with the store owner. It has been 7 days now and I have not heard anything from the store owner or the national company. This lets me to believe the owner of the store is not concerned about his business reputation as well. Therefore I will not be returning to purchase additional products as planned.
