If you are looking for a step up in quality construction, they use a better grade of materials. I just closed on my new home yesterday but was disappointed in the cosmetics and customer service end of the builder.

For example, the house was supposed to be cleaned but the basement was muddy and left to dry and it was tracked onto the new carpeting which was not cleaned. There was paint on the capet and all this was left to be cleaned up after they got my money at closing. The driveway had not been rolled and one coat of asphalt was put down and it was not finished, other driveways were finished that did not have closing but not mine.

The gutters were installed improperly and dumped water directly into the foundation area or directly on the driveway at the main entrance where melting snow from the roof will surely freeze infront of the front door and garage. There were a few other small items that were not given attention to, it seemed that customer service was lip service and the small details are left ignored that make the experience of getting a new house perfect.

They put all these items on a punch list to be fixed but having a clean house to move into would have made a differrence on closing day, now I have to wait to store things in the basement or clean up the dried mud myself before I move in. The quality is there but the small details and customer service are not.
