- Immanuel Church-on-the-Hill Episcopal is a vibrant worship community known locally for the colorful bounty of pumpkins that fills our churchyard the month of October, generating funds to support our robust outreach programs in No. Virgina and abroad. We are guided by the scripture passage in Mark 16:15, "Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel," to learn, discern and proclaim the Good News by being active ministers in the various communities where we live and serve. Originally formed in 1941 on the campus of the Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS) in Alexandria, Immanuel continues to maintain close ties to VTS. Many faculty are parishioners, and we benefit from their preaching and teaching in forum hours. We celebrate excellence in preaching, worship and music, and we have an abiding love of learning and discussion for all ages.
