I've been getting toxin injections in my face, head, neck and shoulders for over five years from other neurologists. My previous neurologist closed her practice and I've been looking for someone who understands chronic migraines from head injuries, hemifacial spasm and dystonia. I met with her in December and she was compassionate, understanding of my situation. She understood about the migraines I have from multiple head injuries; the severe, painful muscle spasms in my face, head, neck and shoulders as well as horrible pain in my right ear and we agreed on the same treatment plan and she was pleased I provided her with the diagrams of where and how much my previous neurologist injected at each identified site. She said she would treat me with 1000 units of Dysport every ten weeks.
Last Monday I had toxin injections but the doctor who showed up was not the doctor we met in December. She asked me where I was experiencing pain and immediately dismissed everything I said and finally demanded if I wanted her to treat me or not . I've been in excruciating pain for six weeks and I just couldn't bear to go home without toxin injections so I said yes. I'm so sorry I did.
She refused to do any of the headache points within the hairline, on the sides or back of my head, the base of my skull or my neck. She did inject small amounts in my forehead, in my right and left temporalis muscle as well as one in my jaw. She injected around my right eye but not correctly. Three days later my eye is drooping more than before. She has no understanding of hemifacial spasm. In December she agreed to treat around my right ear, now she refused to. She did a couple of injections in my neck and shoulders but that was it. When she was finished she announced she used more toxin than she usually does. Then she told me I could make another appointment in 90 days. I reminded her that my insurance would allow treatment every ten weeks and she'd agreed to that in December but now she won't do it.
