Dr. Braat marked his 50th year in practice in the summer of 2016. He was born in Amsterdam, Holland and grew up on a dairy in Newberg. He has family around the state and married his wife Stephanie in 2010. The owner of Linn Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Braat first decided to become a veterinarian at age 8 and never waivered. He graduated from Washington State University with his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1966 and is still an avid supporter of the school. His interests include sports and being outdoors when possible, but is especially committed to his clients and patients, both large and small. The staff at LVH is constantly amazed at Dr. Braat’s ability to recall patient names dating back many years. He is a founding member of the Northwest Equine Practitioners Association and has served as Treasurer for many years. He is also a member of the Oregon Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Equine Practitioners. A special area of interest is equine reproduction and he is also a member of the Society for Theriogenologists.

Best Animal Care Anywhere!

My family has been going to Dr. Braat since before I was born. I drive from Salem to take all my animals here. Dr. Braat recently gelded a colt for me and I couldn't be happier with the experience and results. I am confident that every member of the Linn Veterinary team can and will take care of all my four leggeds with utmost care and professionalism. They are the best in the state and I can't praise them enough for all they've done for us! Dr. Braat has saved many furry lives over the years, we can't thank him and his excellent team enough for everything they have all done.

Great Vet

I've had 2 animals put down by Linn Veterinary Hospital staff and can't thank them enough for the service and compassion. Both animals were nearing the end of their lives with untreatable conditions. Both enjoyed the outdoors and were good hunters.Because of this I didn't want them dying in a hospital setting, and Linn Veterinary Hospital offered their services at a time and location of my choosing. In both instances they were here within minutes of my call, even when called after hours, so my friends could die in their natural habitat with me by their side. Yes, the Vet cried too. I have used them for 17 years and never had a bad experience.

Stay far far away

Watch out for cruel euthanasia's. I was REFUSED a sedative for my cat, and her last moments were of fear, terror, pain, struggling to get away and yowling loudly with all her might. It didn't matter to this young arrogant vet. I was told by her "I got the job done" meaning she killed my cat and that is all that mattered. Seems she doesn't believe in a peaceful death. Jarmain compared the yowls and struggles of my cat, to her taking a blood draw from an animal. So if you hear your pet yowling or screaming with a blood draw at her hands, then owner beware and forewarned. Cold, callous. When I complained to Dr. Braat, he called himself a "coward" and would not even tell her to use a sedative from now on. "I don't teach medicine" I was told. Demand a sedative for your ill and old pet, find someone that will do it humanely!
