Founded in 1911, New York Farm Bureau is a nongovernmental volunteer organization financed and controlled by families for the purpose of solving economic and public policy issues challenging the agriculture industry. It works with a network of more than 36,000 members. It is a member of the American Farm Bureau Federation, which is a national organization of farmers and ranchers including farm bureaus throughout the United States. It administers various programs. Such as the Young Farmer and Rancher Program, Harvest For All, Foundation for Agriculture, County Activities of Excellence and Farmer Idea Exchange. American Farm Bureau Federation focuses on issues that include environment and land use, farm and food policy, international trade, labor and immigration, rural development, tax policy and transportation. New York Farm Bureau is located in Albany, N.Y.
