Kelly Martinez, MD, is an obstetrician/gynecologist who provides expert prenatal, labor and delivery and postpartum care as well as comprehensive gynecological care. She is part of the maternity team at UC San Diego Healths Hillcrest location, where low-risk mothers can plan for deliveries at UC San Diego Medical Center. Dr. Martinez also provides well woman visits, family planning, and treatment for abnormal Pap smears, fibroids, ovarian cysts, abnormal bleeding, gynecological infections, and sexually transmitted diseases. As an assistant professor in the Department of Reproductive Medicine, Dr. Martinez instructs medical students and residents at UC San Diego School of Medicine. Dr. Martinez completed a residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Amarillo, Texas. As a resident, she also participated in the Felix Rutledge Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. She earned her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, Kan. Dr. Martinez is a member of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the San Diego County Medical Society-California Medical Association. She is a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society and received the Gold Foundations Excellence in Teaching Award. While earning her medical degree, she also completed the Christine Mirzayan Science and Technology Policy Graduate Fellowship Program at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine in Washington D.C.Outside of work, Dr. Martinez enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, and traveling.
