This was the worst experience of my life. The apartment was an absolute wreck when I checked in. Wood was chipped, there were cockroaches, the back window was broken, there was a dent in the wall covered over by paint. I mentioned all this at check-in. When it was time for me to move out, I made sure the apartment was immaculate. Not a thing was out of place. That week we confronted the landlord and he said he would charge a certain amount per hour, because he wanted us to pay his workers. He said however long it took his workers to "freshen up" the apartment was how much he was going to charge me. That is not how it works. You charge how much the person owes for damage that was not there before. The apartment looked absolutely horrible when I moved in. The drawers didn't pull out right, the windows wouldn't lock, one of the neighbors still had the key to the apartment, the back window was broken. I called them over and over to have them fix that window and they only caved in after a couple of months. However, when they wanted money they couldn't call me fast enough. They called me at 6 in the morning to charge me 50 dollars to replace a lock I got on my door the day before. I should have done it myself for 8! They wanted to take my whole deposit, and on top of that charge me 177 dollars just to repaint the whole place, and replace windows that weren't working when I first moved in. This is by far the worst chapter of my entire life, and my biggest regret in life is doing business with these crooks. Don't make the same mistake I made! Rent literally anywhere else!

To be as objective as possible, I will tell the whole story. My former roommates were abusing my dog so I had to move into my own apartment as soon as possible. I moved into the apartment complex on 1109 H street, Barling. When they showed me the apartment, I liked that it had tile, but was horrified that another tenant opened the door for me by opening the window from the outside, reaching in, and opening the door, then telling me that she also had her own key. That night I got the keys replaced. Yes, they did bring a new refrigerator in that day. I got pvc pipe to bar the windows so they couldn't be opened from the outside. The back window was broken when I moved in, and I texted and called the landlord several times a week, and only after about 3 months did he finally replace the window, but it was damaged and wouldn't open properly. When I needed to change the lock though he couldn't call me fast enough. The next morning the landlord woke me up at 6 in the morning to charge me 50 dollars to change a lock. I could have done it myself for 8! When I went on vacation for a month, I left a note for him to not let anyone know I was on vacation, and he told all of my neighbors anyway. I kept my apartment immaculate and asked them to inspect the apartment before I left, because I was moving out of state, and I asked for weeks and weeks for them to inspect my apartment, and they never did until I was already out of state. There was no damage to the apartment, and I even took a video of the apartment afterwards on my phone to show it. They said they would mail me my deposit back, then a couple weeks later send some shabby, sketchy looking form written out in pen, that says that not only do I not get a deposit back, but I owe them 177 dollars on top of that for them to "freshen up the place." Me and my dad visited the landlord before leaving and that is what he said. He said he would charge us for how many hours it took to freshen up the apartment. That is legally not how it works. They are supposed to assess for damage that was not there when you first moved in, then charge you to repair the damage. When I moved in, the only nice thing about the apartment was the tile floor. All of the wood for the cupboards and drawers was worn and chipped. There were dents in the walls covered up only by paint. The windows did not lock properly, and after they replaced my back window it would not open properly. The shower head was so crappy it screamed when you took a shower. I left that apartment with the floor mopped and swept, all of the windows covered with a beautiful curtain, and the only thing that was questionable was the small chew mark my dog left on the door frame to my bedroom. I am a nice guy, so I'll own up to my mistakes. However, they should have only charged me for the chew mark on the door frame. Everything else was exactly as it was when I first entered the apartment. What they want to do is to charge me to give the apartment a paint job and make it pretty for the next guest. I am sorry, but that is not my job. My job is to pay back what I owe for damage, and the deposit more than covered the cost of replacing a single little board on a door frame. He said he would charge a 10-12 dollars per hour to clean it up, and if it took the workers 10 hours to clean it up, he would charge 120. I am sorry, but it doesn't work that way. I am not paying your employees' salary. Also, I doubt they were legal immigrants too, so that is illegal labor. That place was an absolute slum, and it was the absolute worst experience of my life. Neighbors were screaming and fighting every night, and for the past couple of weeks someone was knocking on my door late at night, looking through my front window, and whenever I called the police, the landlord got mad at me for calling the cops on my neighbor. I had no idea it was my neighbor, but maybe he shouldn't have had his face pressed to my front window at 1 in the mor
