I had a terrible experience with Cartech. I had Mike recommended by a friend at work who raved about him and his shop. My car was overheating and stalling out and my regular mechanic was too busy to take on another car so I took it to Mike. I should have known something was off when I had to park across Baxter at the Mid City Mall parking lot. I called his number and left a message.
About 2 days later, he called and told me my car was fixed. He said with parts and labor it was $340. I went over that afternoon and dropped a money order for $140 and I had a check for $200 from my sister both in an envelope, dropped through his mail slot.
On the way home, my car died 3 times. I called Mike and told him and he said he did not know what was wrong but to call him back if it continued. I drove it to work the next day, but on the way home it began to overheat and finally died and I could not get it started again.
I had to have it towed to my house. I kept leaving Mike messages but he did not return my calls.
My sister stopped payment on her check and went to his shop and offered him cash if he would take the car and fix it. He declined. He said, "I don't know what is wrong with it. Just take it somewhere else and we will call it even."
So I finally was able to take it to my regular mechanic after a week and found out my car was in terrible condition. My anti-freeze had leaked into my oil. It took a month of fixing and $2000 to repair my car and make it drivable again. My mechanic told me if I had driven it one more day, it would not have been repairable.
So, though Mike only kept my money order for $140, I feel he did me a great disservice. Plus, when he could not fix my car, he lied to me.
I also lost my job because I was working in Simpsonville and had no way to get to work as there is no bus service there. I feel that he did not care that I could have ruined my car by driving it when it should not have been driven.
Do not do business with him.

Avoid! Do not trust at all - I was ripped off by this guy. Overcharged for changing serpentine belt and spark plugs and other unneeded repairs. I should have contested, but I've already written him off.

R12. What does that mean? Mike...

R12. What does that mean? Mike, the owner of Carteck, told me that is the problem with my cold air. All I knew was that it had not worked for almost half a decade. My poor vehicle had been to several different mechanics in the past and each one told me the same thing, "There's just no point." Nobody thought my air was worth fixing so therefore they would not work on it. A mechanic would take one look and go, "Nope, it's not worth it." Well, that was the case until I met Mike. He was more than willing to look at my car for me, even though I told him it had already been deemed useless. Mike took one glance at it and said, "I CAN FIX THAT." He said it with such confidence that I marveled at his ability to diagnose my car's problems without lifting the hood. Mike, professional that he is, received my car at his shop one late Wednesday morning. He called to tell me it was ready by early afternoon. I was even more amazed. Not only did he completely replace my out-dated A/C system, he gave my car the royal treatment and topped off my fluids, put air in my tires, and fixed a cosmetic issue related to the hood. I am ever so grateful for his kindness, professionalism, and fair pricing. I have traveled all over the U.S. and the world and I have never met a better mechanic than Mike at Carteck. My father and pappy were both mechanics and I never thought I would find anyone like them. But Mike's dedication to his craft, passion for helping people, and overall INTEGRITY made all the difference. He made the process of fixing my beat up old car seem painless and effortless because he is so talented. Mike gave my ride a brand new look and added years to it's life! You can search the Yellow Pages and Google all you want, but you will never find a better place to take your car than Carteck!

Thumbs up for Carteck

The owner has consistently done good work for several members of my family---I would highly recommend him. He's honest, his prices are reasonable, and he goes out of his way to try to accomodate you.
