Provided by YP.comMy new rescue cat had terrible gastro issues. The doc did testing, prescribed a couple of expensive meds I had to buy from them as well as expensive food. They said if these didn’t help I would have to bring her to a gastro doc for animals. They made it sound very complicated, expensive and difficult to diagnose. The cats problems continued. A friend of mine said her vet told her a lot of animals have poultry allergies. So I changed her food to beef as an experiment. Problem solved! Next issue- my cat was limping. They did x-rays and found nothing. Sold me painkillers and said she might have a neurological problem. Six hundred dollars later and a lot of worrying- my cat turned out to have a mild sprain.

Provided by YP.comIf I could give them zero stars, I would. They made my pet go through unnecessary pain and stress. Paid close to $300 for nothing. Their lack of professionalism and empathy for others is outrageous. Will never go back there.

Provided by YP.comI scheduled my first appointment with Dr. Fried at the Riverdale Veterinary Group a week prior for a 1/2/15 appointment at 4:00pm. Today 12/30/14 I received a call from someone in his group saying that Dr. Fried would not be there due to a change in his schedule, that I should call back to reschedule for an earlier time that day. When I called to reschedule for an earlier time, the guy I spoke to said that he could give me a 1:00pm appointment because the dr. has a 1:15pm appointment already booked, and his last appointment is at 1:30pm that day. Really, my appointment was for two dogs, was the dr. only going to grant me 71/2 minuets for each dog. I am not looking for a vet that basis his practice and work ethic on seeing his clients dogs as if it were an assembly line with a window of 5 to 7 minuets upon which to complete the work. We the clients Dr. Fried, want the best possible care for our animals and the attention they deserve, and we the owners are paying for. So even before setting my foot in the door, I know that this Riverdale Veterinary Group is not the sort of place were my dogs would receive the care and attention they deserve and we the owners would hope to get for them. Dr. Fried try opening a fast food joint.
Comments:
An overall generally bad feeling even before I set foot in the door.

Provided by YP.comThese haters are tripping-- this is one of the best practices in New York. Dr Palmieri takes care of animals with as much love and care as if they were her own. I wouldn't go anywhere else!

Provided by SuperpagesI use this vet as my dogs' emergency vet and love them. I had already started a relationship with the dogs' vet and wanted to keep the primary. They are open seven days, have a great staff (I've seen three vets there), and I would highly recommend this practice.

Provided by SuperpagesThis review is only for Dr. Derek Fried, and not for any other vetss they have. I do believe he is the owner of the practice. , We lost our long term vet of over thirty years do to retirement, and wont you know it, as soon as that happened our nine year old dog who had never been sick, started to have some real bad problems. Constipation, bleeding from the rear end, and all sorts or problems. We thought we were going to lose him. We took him to see Dr. Fried, and after a complete and kindly examination he gave us a prelim diagnosis of an extremely enlarged prostate. Other tests showed some other problems. Well Dr. Fried took a conservative course of treatment, to be the least invasive. It helped but not entirely, and we had to have him castrated, to try and shrink the prostrate. Well this old dog is now 13 years old(80 years in human age) and just got back from his semi annual visit in great health. With the arthritis medicine Dr. Fried gave to our pet(Over the counter), our dog is once again, bounding up and down from our tall bed, and wanting to take long walks into the park, and jump into the lake once again. Dr. Fried saved this dogs life, and stopped my wife from being heartbroken. We know eventually we will lose this dog, but with the help of Dr. Fried, we have had four excellent years, and this 80 year old puppy is none worst for the wear. Yes, shes gotten a bit heavier because of the castration, we feed her diet bisquits, and one prescription and one non prescription every day, he sight is not the best, but she can act just like a puppy. A lot of people think its a youthfull dog now, and when we tell them hes 13 they are amazed, and we owe this to Dr. Fried. You wont go wrong with him, as long as you communicate. Jerry

Provided by SuperpagesAlthough our sweet tabby cat Louise, aged 16, was diagnosed with progressive kidney disease in July 2007, she has been given the most comprehensive, compassionate and professional care by Dr. Derek Fried and the staff of the Riverdale Veterinary Group.Through regular consultations with Dr. Fried, and frequent follow-up visits, Louise has received life-giving services and medicines necessary to extend her life, such as fluids with vitamin B12, as well as thoughtful instructions for their administration. As a result of interactions with the staff at RVG, we have been able to maintain a high level of care for Louise. We have been comforted by the competence, knowledge and empathy provided by the staff, especially with their readiness to respond to our needs as a family. We are pleased to offer our highest recommendation!
