Horrible MD!!!! Horrible!!!

I have seen this Dr. a few times as I moved here and needed BP medicine and a physical for work. Eventually she was able to accept my insurance and offered to be my primary care MD. She added a new BP medicine to my regimen. My wife and I saw a fertility MD as we are trying to get pregnant. The fertility Doc told me to not take a calcium channel blocker which is what she prescribed. I went back to see her and she was very rude chastising me about how I was 3 weeks late and I didn't call. Well I did call and I was back. I told her I needed to try a different med because of the fertility thing. She asked me where I heard this and I said its all over the Internet. She scoffed at that as I offered to show her the mayo clinic website. Then I offered the fertility docs contact info. She was very rude. She said that it was too much work and she wasn't going to be my dr anymore (what a relief). She said she wasn't going to chase this thing around. Offered no referral to an actually competent dr. Nothing. She then told me to have a nice day very sarcastically. Another reviewer talked about having the police called. That does not surprise me. I walked out and didn't pay. I have been a nurse for 13 years. I graduated from the University of Iowa college of nursing. I have done critical care nursing for 7 years recovering open heart surgery patients. I currently work in a cardiac cath lab where I've been for 2.5 years.

I've seen Drs be jerks and all kinds of behavior but this one really sticks out as the worst MD I've ever seen. She should lose her license to practice. I will be contacting the NM Board of medicine concerning her and I will be complaining to my insurance company. She is a disgrace.

Worst medical experience of my...

Worst medical experience of my life - this business must close

Please don’t waste your time going to that place. It is not worth the few bucks you will possibly save.

In few words: I was YELLED at, the dr refused to offer me an explanation for my test results, TOLD ME TO LEAVE, and as I recorded her yelling at me, she called the POLICE to have me removed (though the police reaffirmed upon arrival my rights to have an explanation for a service I paid for).

Details:

I’m trying to volunteer to work with an amazing children's program at UNM hospitals and they require a TB test. I have a family dr and insurance, but it would take a few days for my dr to be able to see me so I decided to follow a suggestion and have the test done at a local business close to UNM hospital in order to speed up the process. It is a place that takes no insurance, so I paid in cash. I was told after the shot I would have to go back in person to get the results.

Upon my arrival the receptionist (not a doctor, not a nurse), just asked to look at my arm and when she saw there was a little redness around the place where I took the shot, she just said I was positive for TB. As a biochemist, I wanted a more thorough explanation of what they were exactly they were testing for, how they were testing, if any medication I could be taking could possibly give false positives, margin of error, if having taken a shot for TB as a child could have interfered with results (as researching later I found out it does, because they just test for antibodies against TB, and that is exactly what a shot does - gives your immune system a chance to develop antibodies against it). I just had QUESTIONS. They repeated that just a piece of paper and a brief dismissal was all I was entitled.

As I insisted, the dr (a very bad tempered, rude woman) came and signed the paper w/out as much as looking at me, and I noticed she put a quantitative value (11 mm?) as the reason for my positive result w/out any examination. I directly asked her for further explanation and she yelled: "for $15 you just get a result w/ no explanation, if you want to talk to me you need to pay more". Though money was not the issue, I do take issue with the fact that they charged me for a service and refused to fulfill their duties. If they feel $15 is too little, they can charge more, but whatever they charge, it gives the patient the right to results and to an explanation of what was done and what those results mean.

The paperwork they handed me was a mass production pamphlet w/ general directions to call the health department. I told them I would rate that clinic and share w/ prospective costumers how poor their service is and how they refuse to fulfill their obligations to patients. At this point the dr came back (she did not seem that busy after all) and yelled at me to LEAVE. She said it was her personal business and that I had to leave.

I realized the situation was so bizarre that unless I recorded it, it would be hard for people to believe how a doctor can act this way, so I got my iphone and recorded her yelling at me. As she realizes what I am doing, she tells the receptionist to call the police and have me removed and goes back and hides.

That horrible doctor and her equivalently horrible behavior affected me in nothing as I am easily able to pay for blood work (a more quantitative instead of qualitative test), and I am able to easily move on. However, realizing that this clinic’s vast majority of patients are under deserved communities, those without any health care, I feel it is my obligation to voice what happened, so that patients in need and less informed of their rights, won’t have to be scared under the threats of a hateful doctor who refuses to perform her job. There are many wonderful doctors able to perform their job well, but those who choose not to should not be practicing medicine.

degraded and undertreatment

I also have no health insurance at this moment. I came to statmed because i had problems breathing for over a week and i was coughing a lot. I was lured there under the premise of fair prices and treatment. Dr. Nears office was empty and i am not surprised why now...i hardly got feed back from her nursing assistants team and when i met her she really degraded me. I was honest on my health inventory and had listed i drink daily between 1-2 drinks a day. She promptly asked if i had any dwis. I was totally insulted! I have never and would never drink and drive under the influence. That was the equivalent to me asking her if she had any malpractice suites. Completely unprofessional. She asked where i went to school and i told her i was going for nursing. She put me down and made it sound as though i had absolutely no right to be pursuing my degree... even though i am halfway done with it. At the end of the appointment she gave me a script for bronchitis and sent me on my way... later going on to insult my husband when he paid cash for my appointment. Never! See this woman for health issues unless you want to pay to be downgraded...

This was the most horrible doc...

This was the most horrible doctors visit I've ever had. This woman (Dr. Near) literally yelled at me because I didn't have insurance, and continued yelling for 10 minutes. Well there's lots of people my age who don't have insurance, not because we don't want it, but because we cn't afford it. Further she ADVERTISES that she fills in the gap and sees people who cant afford insurance. I came to see her for a digestive issue. She could have ordered a simple test, but I ended up having to do that on my own. From the things she said to me, I could tell that she didn't fully understand how the digestive system works. Do yourself a favor and see a different doctor. She's unbelieveably horrible.

Ms. Near should not be a docto...

Ms. Near should not be a doctor. She is a horrible person. She is mean and rude to people. She will never be successful at StatMed. It's too bad because it's a great business model but she pushes away her clients with her horrible behavior. I will never go back there.
